I have been searching around for some gifts for my sister and it has been great fun. She is having a new baby soon, a long time since having her last one and I want to buy some presents for the new baby as well as for her other children and so I have been looking around. It has been lovely looking at baby things and I have decided to get her some nice infant bedding as she has got rid of the things that she had for her other children. I thought that it would be really nice to treat the older children to some things as well. I have been looking at the range of Disney collectibles because they really like the Disney films and I think that is something they would like. I know that the youngest would really like something with a Cinderella theme and so I think I know what to get her. The oldest is trickier but I am thinking of maybe some Nightmare before Christmas collectibles might appeal as they are a bit more grown up. I will take a look at the prices and see what I can get for a bargain!

Basketball Fun

My young son is having so much fun with the portable basketball hoop that I got him for Christmas. I just got it because it was in a sale not knowing whether he would like it or not. He has been fantastic, playing with it a lot of time and getting better and better at scoring baskets with it. It has made me and my husband start thinking about getting a wall mount basketball hoop at the proper height so that he can get some proper practise in when he gets a bit taller. We are not a sporty family and so I think it is great to encourage him to play this and then he may break the chain and actually be good at least one sport. I am therefore saving up and looking at the costs of backboards and hoops and seeing when it is likely we will be able to buy him the proper kit and he can seriously start to practise. I think he needs to get a bit taller first, really but it won’t hurt him to have a go now and see how he feels about it. If he gets good when he is short then he can only improve as he grows.

Prom dress

I never really understood what all the fuss was about when it came to proms. Just buy a dress and have an evening of fun. However, now it is my turn to go to my very first prom, I can understand why everyone does go into a panic. I have to buy from a discount prom dresses range because my parents do not have any money to give me towards one and I have hardly been able to save any. I want to look good and more importantly feel really good and so I do not want to feel that just because I am looking at Prom dresses under $100 I am not any less special than those girls that spent a fortune. I want to make sure that I choose a dress which looks a lot more expensive than it actually was and makes me feel like a princess. Of course it also needs to be in a color and style that suits me. This is now adding up to quite a long list of criteria and I am concerned that I may not be able to find the right thing for me. Of course I also need to save money to pay for shoes, hairdressing and make up and so the prom dress cannot take up the whole of my small budget.

Sleeping after baby comes along

I remember that the scariest thing I had when I did my prenatal care classes was all about baby sleeping. They basically warned us that baby could wake every couple of hours through the day and night and take an hour to feed. I didn’t believe it, I couldn’t as I was having twins and it meant that I may not get any sleep at all. I just concentrated on looking after myself properly, getting my birth plan up together and getting the house ready for the new arrivals. Of course when they did arrive sleeping was a complete nightmare, for the first six weeks I was getting between 2 and 4 hours of broken sleep a night, but things did slowly improve and even though they are now 4 years old, I still hardly ever get a full night?s sleep but I am usually just woken for a few minutes thankfully. I do think that perhaps people should appreciate their sleep more and not complain when they can’t sleep as at least they are not being prevented from sleeping. You really do appreciate those nights when you do get a few extra hours sleep if you have been deprived.
